Ghana Armed Forces Present GHS 315,000 to Families of Fallen Airmen

The Ghana Air Force, together with the Military High Command, has presented GHS 315,000 to the families of the three-flight crew who tragically lost their lives in the recent military aircraft crash. The gesture came shortly after the solemn state burial on August 15, 2025, where the nation paid its final respects to the gallant servicemen.

The Air Force disclosed that the funds were mobilized from well-wishers, corporate institutions, and individuals who felt compelled to support the grieving families in their moment of sorrow. Military officials further revealed that additional contributions are expected in the coming days. The Presidency also extended its support, presenting the families with an undisclosed sum to cushion them during this difficult period.

Chief of Defence Staff, Lt. General William Agyapong, expressed deep sympathy to the bereaved families and reassured them of the government’s long-term commitment. “In addition to what we have given out today at the national level, the government is planning a holistic package for all affected individuals,” he said. He also stressed the importance of establishing a Child Care Support Fund to secure the future of children of fallen personnel. “What is the fate of our children if such situations befall us? As an institution, we need to start thinking about setting up a fund to cater for our children if we are in harm’s way,” he emphasized.

To honour the sacrifices of the three crew members, the families were also presented with plaques symbolizing their posthumous promotions, ensuring that their service and bravery will never be forgotten.
