Ghana Secures $1.5 Billion Oil and Gas Investment Deal
The Government of Ghana has signed a memorandum of intent with ENI, Vitol, and the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) for a major integrated strategic investment plan worth US$1.5 billion.
The agreement, sealed at the ongoing 2025 Africa Oil Week in Accra, is aimed at enhancing Ghana’s oil and gas production capacity. The investment will focus on increasing gas output and optimizing oil production, strengthening the country’s energy sector growth and long-term sustainability.
President John Mahama welcomed the deal, describing it as evidence of Ghana’s growing attractiveness to international investors.
“Ghana is building a business environment that meets investors while safeguarding our national interest. The policy interventions introduced since I assumed office are yielding results,” he said.
Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Hon. John Jinapor, emphasized the broader impact of the investment.
“This is not just a figure on paper; it is a vote of confidence in Ghana’s upstream petroleum sector, our economy, a commitment to job creation and a catalyst for the infrastructure that will power our nation forward,” he noted.
The partnership is expected to not only expand petroleum activities but also drive infrastructure development, job creation, and energy security in Ghana.
