The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has announced a two-day interfaith thanksgiving service to celebrate the Black Stars’ qualification for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The event, which brings together Christians and Muslims within the football fraternity, will be held at two venues in Accra — the Imam Malik Hamburg Mosque at Maamobi on Friday, October 24, and the Christ the King Anglican Church in Sakumono on Sunday, October 26. According to the GFA, the thanksgiving aims to express gratitude to God for guiding the team to its fifth World Cup appearance and second consecutive qualification after Qatar 2022.
Participants, including football officials, players, and fans, have been encouraged to wear white to symbolize unity and gratitude. The interfaith service reflects Ghana’s cultural and religious harmony, emphasizing the nation’s belief in divine support behind its sporting achievements.
It also marks an important moment for the GFA as it continues to foster togetherness and national pride ahead of preparations for the global tournament.
