Nigerian Man Extradited by INTERPOL for Killing of Ghanaian Man
A man wanted over the 2018 murder of Joshua Boadu in the United Kingdom has been extradited from Nigeria after spending six years evading justice.

Joshua Boadu, popularly known as SJ, was stabbed on Linsey Street in Bermondsey on June 11, 2018. He was rushed to hospital in critical condition after suffering injuries to his chest, neck, and arm. Despite medical efforts, he died ten days later from the wounds - the Metropolitan Police quoted.

The suspect, Matthew Adebiyi, allegedly fled to Nigeria shortly after the killing, believing distance would shield him from prosecution. However, following a formal extradition request by UK authorities in September 2024, INTERPOL NCB Abuja moved swiftly to track him down.

Adebiyi was arrested on January 23, 2025, and extradition proceedings began at the Federal High Court in Lagos. On February 16, 2026, Justice A.O. Faji approved the request, clearing the way for his transfer. He was officially handed over to UK law enforcement officers on April 14, 2026, at Murtala Mohammed International Airport in Lagos.
In addition to the murder case, Adebiyi is also facing charges linked to the alleged supply of crack cocaine in the UK between 2017 and 2018.
The extradition marks a major breakthrough for Joshua Boadu’s family, who have waited nearly eight years for justice. Nigerian authorities, alongside INTERPOL NCB Abuja, were praised for their role in ensuring the suspect is returned to face trial.
