"I'm not sure if VAR is still working at World Cup" - Carlos Quieroz
Ghana head coach Carlos Queiroz did not hold back after the Black Stars' grueling 0-0 draw against England, using heavy sarcasm to question whether the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system was even active during the match.
The talking point of the tense Group L clash came late in the second half at Gillette Stadium when England defender Ezri Konsa challenged Ghana substitute Prince Kwabena Adu inside the penalty area. Despite heavy protests from the Ghanaian bench and players on the pitch, the referee waved play on, and VAR chose not to intervene.
Speaking to reporters in his post-match press conference, a visibly frustrated Queiroz took direct aim at the officiating crew in the video room.
"I'm not sure if VAR is still working at the World Cup... I have some doubts about that," Queiroz remarked. "The VAR referee was on vacation in the second half, apparently. Once again, the VAR went for coffee. I like to take my coffee once in a while!"
When pressed further on the incident, the veteran tactician made it clear that he felt his side was robbed of a massive opportunity to take all three points.

"It's a clear penalty and a red card [on Konsa]. Do you have any doubts about that, or is it only me who was at the game?" Queiroz added, explaining that he relied on sarcasm because speaking too seriously about refereeing decisions usually leads to heavy fines and FIFA punishments.

Despite the refereeing drama, the point keeps Ghana in a prime position to qualify for the knockout rounds, setting up a winner-takes-all final group match.
