Carlo Ancelotti Gets One-Year Sentence for 2014 Tax Offense

Former Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti has been handed a one-year prison sentence over tax fraud dating back to his first stint with the Spanish giants in 2014. Spanish prosecutors accused the Italian manager of failing to declare income related to his image rights while residing in Spain during his tenure as head coach.

While Ancelotti reportedly paid the owed amounts and penalties after the charges were filed, the court still found him guilty of concealing earnings. Under Spanish law, first-time non-violent offenders with sentences under two years are often not required to serve jail time, meaning Ancelotti is unlikely to face actual imprisonment.
