Man Sentenced to 14 Years for Raping His Two Daughters
A High Court has sentenced a commercial driver and mechanic, Okon Jimmy Ama, from Ikot Ekpene in Mkpat Enin Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State, to 14 years imprisonment for sexually assaulting his two biological daughters.
The court found him guilty after reviewing evidence presented during the trial. The judgment brings an end to a case that sparked outrage within the local community and renewed calls for stronger protection for children against abuse.
Authorities have reiterated that sexual offences, especially against minors, will be met with severe punishment under Nigerian law. Child rights advocates have also urged families and communities to report suspected cases promptly to ensure justice and safeguard vulnerable children.
